AI Quiz Generator

The generator is instructed to base every question strictly on the notes you paste in — it does not fill gaps with outside knowledge. That means the quality of your notes directly caps the quality of the quiz. Terse, fragment-style notes give the AI almost nothing to work with beyond definitions.

Weak input: "Mitosis — phases: prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase." A list like this can only really produce "What is the third phase of mitosis?" — a pure memorization question.

Stronger input: "During prophase, chromatin condenses into visible chromosomes and the nuclear envelope breaks down, allowing spindle fibers to attach in metaphase. This ensures each daughter cell in anaphase receives an identical set of chromosomes." Because this version explains what happens and why it matters, the AI has enough material to generate comprehension questions ("why does the nuclear envelope need to break down before metaphase?") instead of only recall questions.

If your source notes are already just bullet fragments, it's worth spending two minutes expanding the key ones into full sentences before pasting them in — you'll get a noticeably better quiz back.

The generator is explicitly instructed to mix recall, comprehension, and application questions rather than just echoing phrases back from your notes — so don't expect every answer to be a word-for-word match you can scan for. Read the explanation under each question even when you got it right; it's written to clarify why that answer is correct, which is often the part of the concept that a simple reread of your notes wouldn't have surfaced. If a question feels like it's asking something your notes never directly stated, that's usually the tool testing whether you understood the relationship between two facts, not a flaw in the quiz.

Unlike multiple choice and true/false, short answer questions aren't scored automatically — the results screen shows your typed answer next to a sample answer and leaves the grading to you. Use that honestly: the goal isn't matching the sample answer's exact wording, it's checking whether you covered the same key ideas. This format is closer to how retrieval practice should actually work — you have to produce an explanation from memory, not just recognize the right option among four — so it's worth choosing Short Answer specifically for material you need to be able to explain out loud, like for a written exam or a class discussion, rather than only for topics you expect to see as multiple choice.
